Postcards from the Sentralized Conference

Currently over in the US the Sentralized conference is going on with the likes of Michael Frost and Dan Kimball speaking. Frostie is posting updates on Facebook and I will post snapshots on this thread as they appear on his timeline.

  1. Is it bad that I’ve never heard of the Sentralized Conference or any of the speakers?

    But it looks really interesting.
    You amaze me Mr Explorer.

  2. No, not bad at all – depending on what church circles you inhabit, you would potentially never hear of some, if any of these speakers. Why do i amaze you Q? I’m glad I do, that is one of the things I like to do…amaze and surprise people; just when you think your have me understood…BAM, game changed!

  3. Was looking at the site. People talking about those who plant/pastor churches while having to support their families through work.

I have the utmost respect for people like that. Amazing. Ironically they are often not recognized but criticized or looked down on instead.

And missionaries and church planters are my heroes.

The green berets of the church.
    (Okay, SAS for the Aussies)

  4. Speaking of missions, there is a fascinating article over at Christianity Today about the results of very extensive research showing the link between protestant missions and democracy (and other factors like education/health/standard of living) throughout the world.
    But especially, democracy.

    It’s called
“The Surprising Discovery About Those Colonialist, Proselytizing Missionaries”

Very well received study that was stringently researched.

Yeah for all those old time Protestant missionaries.
They usually get criticised and lampooned, but this study is really getting noticed in academia.
