What we used to be able to say with a simple “Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, now requires…

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday practiced with the most enjoyable traditions of religious persuasion or secular practices of your choice with… respect for the religious or secular persuasions and or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all.

I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2013, but not without due respect for the calendar of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make our country great (not to imply that any country is necessarily greater than any other country, and without regard to race, creed, colour, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the “wishee”!

By accepting this greeting, you are accepting these terms: This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It is freely transferable with no alteration to the original greeting. It implies no promise by the “ wisher” to actually implement any of the wishes for her or him or others and is void where prohibited by law, and is revocable at the sole discretion of the “ wisher”.

The wish is warranted to perform as expected within the usual application of good tidings for a period of one year or until the issuance of a new wish at the sole discretion of the “ wisher”.
Best regards (without prejudice)
I think that covers it…. yet I am sure the grammar nazis will still find something I missed

  1. Bah humgug. I couldn’t find any grammatical errors.

But – I’m totally dismayed that you are now peddling the prosperity heresy. “fiscally successful”?

    Only kidding.

I like the way old folks say Merry Christmas too each other still.
I like Christmas and Christmas carols and parties and stuff.

  2. I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas except Steve.

Steve, have merry mithra day and a successful saturnalia and summer solstice.

  3. The Vatican was built upon the grounds previously devoted to the worship of Mithra (600 B.C.). The Orthodox Christian hierarchy is nearly identical to the Mithraic version. Virtually all of the elements of Orthodox Christian rituals, from miter, wafer, water baptism, alter, and doxology, were adopted from the Mithra and earlier pagan mystery religions. The religion of Mithra preceded Christianity by roughly six hundred years. Mithraic worship at one time covered a large portion of the ancient world. It flourished as late as the second century. The Messianic idea originated in ancient Persia and this is where the Jewish and Christian concepts of a Savior came from. Mithra, as the sun god of ancient Persia.

And we shall discuss the day of the sun god (SUNDAY, and SATURNALIA AT A LATER POINT)

8 Formerly, when you did not know God, you were slaves to those who by nature are not gods. 9 But now that you know God—or rather are known by God—how is it that you are turning back to those weak and miserable forces[d]? Do you wish to be enslaved by them all over again? 10 You are observing special days and months and seasons and years! 11 I fear for you, that somehow I have wasted my efforts on you.(Galations 4)

16Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. 17These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ. 18Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you for the prize. Such a person goes into great detail about what he has seen, and his unspiritual mind puffs him up with idle notions. 19He has lost connection with the Head, from whom the whole body, supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow.(Colossians 2)

  4. There is a thread on this already EYES. Sadly it’s all old wives tales.

But have a merry Mithra day and a successful Saturnalia and Summer Solstice as well.

  5. 10 You are observing special days and months and seasons and years! 11 I fear for you, that somehow I have wasted my efforts on you.(Galations 4)

16Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day.(Colossians 2)

Surely, now, Steve, you can understand at least something about that which i am saying!

  6. “The thread is ripping, the knot is slipping…”

Reinforcement is needed and all i have is old Bones!

  7. By the way Bones, you have taken my comment back to front, upside down, and inside out, and not to mention, the right way/upside down!

  8. Or should i say, THE RIGHT WINS LEFT, ONLY BEREFT OF THE TRUTH, BUT SHANK’S PONY THROUGH THEFT, OF THE
RIGHTEOUSNESS PROOF, HAS INDEED MADE AN IMPACT UPON THE LEFTHANDED NOOSE!

  9. I’ll take some of that prosperity and truth too, thanQ!

“The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26 NRSV)

    Yes, upon you ALL!!!!

  10. I’m with the Apostle John on this.

‘Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.’

And there’s no specific season for it to apply!

    Live long and prosper!

  11. Sorry, Eyes, can’t make head nor tail of what you’re saying at times. Nothing personal.

If you do everything that’s right, there’s nothing left to do, but if you left out what is right would you be left behind or in a right mess?

  12. “Sorry, Eyes, can’t make head nor tail of what you’re saying at times. Nothing personal.”

    Two laws Steve,

Does Righteousness comes from God and is by Faith in Jesus Christ?

    OR,

Does Righteousness come by the slave Woman?

  13. I think you’ve somehow swapped threads, there, Eyes. Or possibly lost the thread, or we have. Hard to tell.

But, nevertheless, be blessed whether you believe in the season or not.

Personally I believe Today is the day of Rest, so I do not need to regard any day above another.

But if someone wants to bless me seasonally, well, where’s the harm in that?

Or will judge a man equally for celebrating a season or a festival as well as not celebrating a feast, or holiday, or sabbath? Works either way as far as I can see.

  14. Sorry Zorro, Eyes should have listened!

” Personally I believe Today is the day of Rest, so I do not need to regard any day above another.
But if someone wants to bless me seasonally, well, where’s the
    harm in that?
Or will judge a man equally for celebrating a season or a festival as well as not celebrating a feast, or holiday, or sabbath? Works either way as far as I can see. ”

    And then the scripture says,

    New International Version (©1984)
Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day.

    Obviously Steve is oblivious!

  15. “Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink,”

Now that’s a good verse for the next few days!

  16. Eyes,
Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day.

Which can means either judging a believer for eating, drinking or regarding a festival, sabbath or holy day, for not eating, drinking or regarding a festival, sabbath or holy day.

    Obviously!

    1 Corinthians 6
12 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

    1 Corinthians 10
23 All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify.

If I am no longer subject to the law, then there is no law I am subject to, therefore there is no law, and no lawlessness.

Therefore there is no judgement, nor a judge.

    Galatians 5
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

So, by living in the perfect law of liberty, that is in love, by the Spirit, I am not subject to any law because I fulfil the requirements of the law.

So you cannot stand or sit as a judge.

So, yes, I am oblivious, because the law is obliterated by grace.

Oblivious: not aware or concerned about what is happening around me! Indeed, in regard to the law.

  17. Christians needs to become activists and write letters to companies who send out risk-avoiding, politically correct greetings, like ‘Happy Holidays’ and tell them they are offended that those companies are too weak minded to acknowledge that it is the Christmas season.

  18. Christians needs to become activists and write letters to companies who send out risk-avoiding, politically correct greetings, like ‘Happy Holidays

I dislike the whole Xmas an seasons greetings and happy holidays rubbish…the whole point is that it’s Christmas…enjoy the holiday how you will, but show some respect for why we celebrate!
